Normally, we’d start with a lovely and entertaining editorial to lead you into our piece. But honestly, folks, we know you’re here to just get down to it and start planning your little one’s next birthday bash.

Toss your worries aside (like clean up or weather) and check out these fun places to throw your birthday bash.

Places to go:

Adventure Quest Laser Tag (Harahan, 504.207.4444, www.lasertagnola.com) For kids 6 and up, they offer laser tag in ancient Mayan surroundings, as well as Cosmic Golf and bumper cars under black lights.

Audubon Zoo Carousel (New Orleans, 504.212.5443, www.auduboninstitute.org). A magical place for a celebration with the animals! Ask about their unique birthday party venues.

Audubon Aquarium (New Orleans, 504.212.5301, auduboninstitute.org) Have your birthday celebration with the penguins, fish, and sharks.

Boomtown (Westbank, 504.366.7711) They have a private party room and take care of everything except the cake: pizza, drinks, and video games. Plus they even provide goody bags.

Calliope Puppet Center (Algiers, 504 913-8486, calliopepuppets.com)

They provide a unique occasion to experience the magic of puppet theater inside a working puppeteer’s studio. Parties include a performance and a puppet craft activity for ages 3 – 11. They’ll also bring the show to you!

Chez Clay (New Orleans, 504.522.3240) Pottery painting parties for kids of all ages. And they have a big screen TV, too.

Café au Clay (Uptown, 504.861.4400) Kids can make masks, clay creations, or choose from an assortment to paint and glaze.

City Park (New Orleans, 504.482.4888, neworleanscityparks.com) Choose from Carousel Gardens, Storyland, or Historic New Orleans Train parties.

Creole Creamery (New Orleans, 504.894.8680, creolecreamery.com) Have a party at this ice cream parlor, where children can create their own ice cream sundaes.

Imax Theater (New Orleans, 504.581.4629, auduboninstitute.org) It’s big fun to take the kids to an Imax show.

Jewish Community Center (Uptown & Metairie, 504.897.0143, nojcc.org) They set the tables, hangs the balloons and clean up after these 90-minute affairs, which are designed for children age three and up.  Parties vary in price and can also include karaoke, gymnastics, sports, arts-and-crafts, swimming and many other kid-friendly activities.

Kammy’s Cottage (Kenner, 504.468.7224; www.kammyscottage.com) Your birthday princess will enjoy her special day by dressing up in vintage-era hats, gloves and glamorous accessories.

Kids Party Adventures (Metairie 504.832.8216, kidspartyadventures.com) Fun parties including dance with a live D.J., roller racers, light space wall, make-up class, education center, and more.

Love Swimming(New Orleans, 504.891.4662, loveswimming.com) Try something different! They offer swim parties in their indoor, warm water facility that kids love.

Louisiana Children’s Museum (New Orleans, 504.523.1357 x200; lcm.org) Choose from two party packages, the “Birthday Blast” or the “Big Time Birthday Party.”

LuLu Belle’s Boutique (Harvey, 504.363.8280) Offering tea parties, pretty princess, fabulous fairy, or sparkly spa parties. They’ll make your child’s next birthday party unforgettable!

My Lil’ Tea Party (Kenner, 504.471.0094) A little girl’s idea of heaven with costumes, a fashion show, tea party and even karaoke singing.

Prytania Theatre (Uptown, 504.891.2787, theprytania.com). Special screening in this single-screen movie theatre.

Posh Paint Pub (Metairie, 504.835.4155) Great pottery painting parties—for kids and adults.

R.E.A.D. (New Orleans, 504.450.3997, readnola.com) Parties on Saturdays. Storytelling, singing and dancing revolve around a theme you pick.

Streetcar parties (New Orleans, 504-827-8325) About one and a half hours for the Lee Circle trip, or two hours for the Canal Street trip. You bring you own food, drink and decorations. One and a half hour ride.

Zephyrs Baseball (504.734.5155 x 241, zephyrsbaseball.com) Birthdays with Boudreaux for children 12 and under. Pool and batting cages available.



‘Fun-n-Fit’ Places:

Airline Skate (Metairie, 504.733.2248, airlineskatecenternola.com) You can have public or private skate parties, bring you own cake, and purchase pizza.

Bookoo Bounce (Harahan, 504.835.6424; bookoobounce.com) Indoor inflatable playground and party place. A great feature is that the parties are private, with only you and your guests in the party area. Parties are two hours long.

Reily Center at Tulane University (Uptown, 504.891.2787, reilycenter.com) Choose from a list of sports themes, such as wiffleball, swimming, soccer and scooters (to name a few). They have party rooms complete with balloons, tablecloths and paper products.

Skate Country (Gretna, 504.392.2227, skatecountrywb.com) Party packages include food, drink and skating. It’s extra to have the rink to yourself.

The Monkey Room (New Orleans, 504.301.2695; monkeyroom.net) Contains a huge, custom-designed play structure for children 3 – 12 with slides, climbs, obstacles, and other fun elements to explore.
